I know that the ESDI_506 was a old hard drive controller very early on, but I have a 1997 Packard Bell computer that I am currently working on and in the bootlog.txt file it freezes and the last entry in the file is:

INIT_DEVICE: esdi_506.pdr

How can I work around this? Is this hardware or is it software. I have almost completely done away with all possible software causes, but maybe I missed something. Any help would be appreciated.
