I'll have a stab at it. I believe he played guitar & banjo for a Bohemian folksinger named Wizz Jones...

Before reading your queastion correctly I was going to say "The Faces" Which were - Kenney Jones (drums); Ronnie Lane (bass, vocals); Ian Maclagan (keyboards); Rod Stewart (vocals); Ron Wood (guitar). Lane quit, replaced by Tetsu Yamauchi, 1973, effectively transforming the Faces into the Rod Stewart back-up band.

But that would of been wrong - d'oh

PS Wizz Jones is correct. I've read that somewhere before other than in a web site.

    Now I'm more confused.
You did mention a female singer but I cannot make a link between a that and the group Humble Pie. Are you sure about your sources? I've checked out several sources with nothing about Rod having played with a female singer before he made it big.
The only female singer I found was what I had mentioned before, Wizz Jones!!!

NO ,,,,Humble pie ,,,,as in swollow your pride,,,,that was NOT a clue,

the way i remember it ,,,,rod stuard did a session backing for a "famous" (in the 60s-70s) female singer ,,,,his backing (and i can,t say what instrument) was/is played on the radio and on mtv etc quite often to this day.

If my pop trivia serves me correctly Rod Stewart was in a group called Shotgun Express with Beryl Marsden vocals, Rod Stewart vocals and Pete Bardens on keyboard.

    Hot or cold????
