Table of Contents

On my page i've recieved negative comments (both on the sire reciew forum and from end-users) about the frames and the load-time of my current table of contents (A J-S Applet). Does anyone know how to do a table of contents that doesn't invilve java, but can be updated site-wide at once (currently about 50 html files -- i would NOT want to have to go and manually modify them)

3 things-

1. use "CSS" - this way you can update things site widh

2. on my site - the nav bar is a picture (very optemised so it will load fast).
on all the pages i have the same "mapping coordinates" so if i want to change some thing - i only need to change the nav pic and some pages - defenatly not all pages.

3. use AceHTML !!! it's free and you can do a site widh update in a second using the Extended Find and replace option.
(I gave the link to it allrady in several posts).

BTW - using Frames will lower your rating in serch engines!!! and you DONT want this to happen.....

How/why does using Frames lower your ratings in search engines? I personally don't care for frames and don't use them, but that's only a personal preference..so I'm curious about the frame/search..
