Word 97 crash and burn
I have a customer who has office 97 with a peculiar problem. When she runs Word, it runs fine. Open any file and it exits with a GPF. I have changed the video drivers (even going to vga 16 color driver), removed office and re-installed, used MickeySoft's registry clean for Office util and it still won't work. MicroSoft's knowledge base seems to have no answers to it (have tried each and every check on it I think). I saw this problem a long time ago and did fix it by removing Office, manually removing all DLL's related to office, Finding every trace of office and deleteing, and Scanning and removing every Office related registry entry. Then of course I had to reinstall windows, then reinstall Office and it worked. It shouldn't be so complicated and tedious.

Hi,
Just a quick question: Have you checked MS's website below? It discusses What Causes GPF's and Troubleshooting Tips...

Hope this helps out...
Good Luck!

I once saw a macro virus that did this with Word97.

Might not be alot of help, but ive fixed an awefull lot of office 97 issues by uninstalling it and reinstalling to a totally different directory, might be worth a shot anyway.
