    Remote desktop connection

Been trying to figure out how to set this up...

i would like to have access to my gradmother's computer across town as well as my GF at colleg so i can fix them without having to drive there.

I read soemthing about having to be on a domain, but not sure exactly what is up with that

If someone has a how to step by step type of a thing that would be great

Actually, what you are wanting is called remote assistance, you must have XP along with them and click the remote assistance button under start > programs. You can either choose to send a request for help via MSN Messenger or E-mail

couldn't VNC be used for this also? just run VNC as a service on the remote machines...then all you need to know is the IP of the machine to take control.

You can use Netmeeting to - its a bit slow, but its free.

    Laplink works too

Remote Admin is probably the best though.
