    Novell Running Slow

Is there any kind of procedure for making sure that a Novell Server is running ok, or is there a utility for checking for errors?
Its Just my Novell Server is running slow, sometimes it will lock all of the workstations and then free up in 40 seconds time.

    Question novell running slow

Which version of netware are you running? What service pack is it patched to? You can look in monitor and check to see how the stats are. Are users having trouble viewing/using files?

In addtion to what Amy asked, what are you running on the server besides file and print sharing? What are the specs of the server, did this start happening at a specific point in time? How many users?

Im using Small Business Suite 5 with SP6a loaded, I use my Server for Internet Access, Webaccess, E-mail (Groupwise) and File + Printer Sharing.
The Server is a Dual P3 1000Mhz, 80Gb HD and 1Gb of Memory.
The problem effects all of the users because it will lock up any applications that are running from the Server.

OK, it sounds like you have a problem with high processor utilization. These can be annoying to troubleshoot, but I would start by typing LOAD MONITOR at the server console. This loads the Netware Console Monitor Utility, which tells you all sorts of information and real-time stats on how your server is running. What you'll be interested in is the Kernel menu, where you can get a list of what process is taking up how much CPU time.

Also here: http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/se...?/10011512.htm - this lists some things to look for with troubleshooting high processor utilization.
