Unhappy Need help w/ Warcraft 3

We installed the recommended directX 8.1 and then the game itself. But when the game loaded it would only go as far as the intro and then freeze every time If i can not get this to work then that means wasted money So if you have any ideas please help, thanks! We have an onboard 3d accelorater and 248mb ram

Onboard 3d accelerator? That is built in on the motherboard? That would be my first suspect. However much video is designated to the onboard is taken away from the system memory.

You need to give more specifics.... video card? ..... latest drivers? ......processor? .......OS? ........motherboard?

Dont be like all those cry babies out there that whine "If this game dont work right from the box it is a badly designed game and I want my money back"

You got a problem that can be fixed. You just have systematically troubleshoot it.

YEah, don't be a whiny baby on your first post here, it takes time to be able to whine like a pro.

Look at me I am still learning the fine art of whining.

But yeah, try to find the latest drivers for your video card, then reinstall DX8.1, then see how it all works.

you say you have 248 megs of ram? then you probably have a 8 meg video card built in to the motherboard. if thats the case you may have a hard getting war3 to play. onboard video cards aren't very good for gaming. the minimium required video card for war3 is 8 megs, but the recommend is a 32 meg card. try updating your video card drivers. if that doesn't work, see if you can borrow a 16 or 32 meg pci video card from someones(you probably don't have an agp slot) and see it that fixes the problem.
take care and tempt not the fates

Try here. Also have you installed the latest patch 1.03?

Could be a number of things. Outdated drivers, sound card, video card, antivirus.
The recommended system requirments suggests at least a 32MB accelerator card; chances are the video card on your MB is rated lower.

Like the others have mentioned, your system specs would be helpfull.

The whole point I was trying to make with the cry baby thing is this.....

One thing you have to keep in mind....

With all the differant systems, differant software packages, differant components, differant drivers, ect there is no way that a software company can come up with a game nowadays that is 100% bug free out of the box for everyone 100% of the time. Its ideal that they do but show me one or two multiplayer game over the last 4 or 5 years that fresh from the box worked on everyones system that did not have the latest drivers.

Its just if everyone had the problem, the would be one thing but everyone doesnt. All it takes is not updating a video card driver or a sound driver for three months and the newest game may not work on your system.
If it aint broke, TWEAK it!
When in doubt, throw it out!!

    Agree,
I will also do a check in the system BIOS and see if I can "Borrow" more RAM from System.
The biggest advice - buy a simple GEForcer or ATI Card (not the latest) - it will make you system a lot more Easier 2 handle.

    Cheers,
And after you succeed I would like to play 1Vs1 with you
