Artifacts on Geforce2 GTS
Hi, I've got a Geforce 2 GTS lying round... Suma.... and it has had a few probs in the past, really bad artifacts in both 2d and 3d modes for about a month, then it stopped working altogether. So I sent it away for repairs, the same card came back "fixed" but I still get artifacts? Anyone had this happen to them before and fixed it? Otherwise I'll probably just give it the bin.

I agree, that card isn't really worth fixing if it is a hardware issue. It's possible the card has been overclocked horribly but I doubt it. Is the cooling fan still running?

Same card, similar problem.
What OS and driverset are you using?
Mine is an ASUS 7700 Deluxe, GeForce2 GTS (el grande denario). After using it for a while, and being annoyed to death with the artifacts (I am in graphic design), I uninstalled the ASUS drivers that give access to the TV IN/Out features and set it up using just the default Detonator drivers from Nvidia. This helped, although did not reduce, the number of artifacts. These artifacts were visible on the Windows 98 statup screen and also visible on the desktop and inside applications.
I further made sure the thing was not overclocked, and I bought and installed a slot cooler for the card. I reseated the card, no avail. No help from Nvidia or ASUS.
However, I recently upgraded to Win2000, clean install, using the latest, greatest Detonator from Nvidia. I haven't seen any artifacts yet.

Are you using the dets or the manufacturers drivers? Have you checked the temps of the card? If using a via chipset did you install the 4-in-1 drivers?

I have the exact same card on an Abit KT7A-Raid board. Its been a great card for me but I am curious what you mean by artifacts?

Artifacts refers to the little "blips" and "scratchies" in the picture, think of really old movie reels, the way they have the small defects.

Thanks for all the ideas, I will try them. It's only been used in one computer, to the best of my knowledge, my mates XP1800... It's not a cooling issue, we've even tried putting a p3 hsf on it, but it didnt stop it...
First of all I'll try it in a different computer. Then I'll try underclocking it. Also, ShadowWynd, unfortunately it's already using win XP, so the best I can try is latest detonators. Will get back to you soon.

I had that issue with almost the same card. I had sent mine to asus, and they just replaced it with a new one (the old one was DOA) it's been running fine for almost 2 years now.
If it's under warranty, send it off again, if not, get something new.

Update
Just an update and a thanks to everyone who helped me out with this one -- I managed to get it working great with 0 artifacts, on a different computer (which had been tested before) but with the latest detonators. Thanks especially to the person(s) who suggested that!!
