    Startup weirdness

OK... this is a new one for me. I have an XP box I'm working on setup with two users. Everything works fine with one user, but I'm getting some startup weirness with the other. Basically the items in the user's startup folder won't load, but if I move them to the "All Users" startup folder everything loads twice.

I'm guessing that something in the registry is goofed up, like the user's startup folder pointing to the "All Users" folder, but that's just speculation on my part. I'm pretty sure that deleting and re-creating this particular user account will fix the problem, but if someone here knows an easier fix (such as a registry edit) I'd much rather go that route.

    Any ideas?

    Hello,

I had exactly the same problem

Fixed it in the end by editing the registry

Under HKCU - PROGRAMS - MICROSOFT - WINDOWS - CURRENT VERSION - EXPLORER

Under USER SHELL FOLDERS you will see that the STARTUP one is pointing at the wrong place

    Welcome to windrivers Alanesq.

Thanks for the info, what was the wrong place yours was pointing to?

    Hello,

By the time I got it working I couldn't remember fully what I had done :-(
If you look on the list under the section I mentioned in my post, all mine were pointing to a similar folder but STARTUP was pointing to something else (i.e. All USERS rather then the user logged in (or the other way round?)

    Hope this helps????
