This seems like it's somewhere between 'too good to be true' and 'a load of horse sh*t' based on this...

By setting a "kill bit" for spyware ActiveX controls, SpywareBlaster can prevent the installation of any spyware ActiveX controls from a webpage. It does this while not interfering with "friendly" ActiveX controls - so your browser can work correctly and you can have peace of mind!
or maybe it's just high maintenence trying to tell it what Active X controls are friendly compared to not.

And this part seems like it would do more harm than good...

In addition, SpywareBlaster can prevent many of these spyware ActiveX controls from running, even if they are already installed on your system.*
You've got a program that bogs down your system and this product is going to disable part of it??? I would think that it would only succeed in locking up your system. I would rather remove/uninstall the offending program or registry entry rather than cut off it's legs.

But I'm not a programmer and I don't have a firm grasp on the Active X controls or how someone or their browser/OS determines that they are safe or signed aside from clicking No when Bonzi Buddy wants to hump your leg.

This software is just begging to be installed on a test PC then taken to the crapware central sites and field tested

I've used it ... it DOES work. In effect it just tells the system NOT to run the suspect ActiveX control by setting the kill bit in the Registry. If that control is present on your system it can no longer start up, if it isn't present it won't even be downloaded because the system thinks it has the ActiveX control already installed so no download.

I tested it with HuntBar and it was able to both prevent a currently-installed copy from running and on another system kept it from even downloading from the site.

I will stand by This program too. I run it on all my machines and it works very well. I never had a problem with any application I needed to run becuase it was interfering with it in some way.
