    Ignorant People Listing Jobs

I was on HotJobs.com looking to see what might be my salvation form this current crummy job I am in now and I cam across this job. This is some of what was listed.

A+ certification and experience with installation of CAT5 and Ethernet cabling is required. Associates degree or equivalent experience in electronics or computers is helpful. Knowledge of MS-DOS, Windows95/98, Windows NT, and networking helpful but not required. Must be dependable, self-motivated and energetic with excellent communication skills.

Now it has been a long time since I have looked at the A+ test, but don't you have to have knowledge of MS-DOS, Windows95/98, Windows NT, and networking to pass the A+ exam?

No wonder some of us techs can't find jobs. There are morons like this in charge of hiring.
    U.S. out of U.N.

Nope ... not now at least - when I passed it (when was that-1996? well whenever) 98 wasn't out ! & if you passed it now I think you need w2k/xp 'skills' (A+ is about hardware anyway but I believe there are some very basic operating systems questions) you'd want Network+ (is that what its called?) to cover that skill set & have passed that whenever 98 & NT were 'mainstream' ...

But remember Job Descriptions are generally written by some HR (personnel to me - or Human Resources if you want to be 'modern') person who hasn't got a flipping clue about anything technical anyway ... or worse still they are written up by some recruitment agency moron who hasn't got a clue about the role or even the company involved, all he wants is his commission for filling the role on the top salary he can 'blag' as he gets more commission that way !!!

This 'stupidity' of course works both ways, & no amount of 'moaning' from me or you will change it, so take advantage & 'tailor' your skill set to match , if you have 'any' idea you are leaps & bounds ahead of the HR consultant, which at least gets you to interview ... You can 'fess up' there if your concience gets the better of you
