Canon ZR camcorder won't capture video
I own a Canon ZR camcorder & have tried many tips on solving the video capture problem in Windows XP. I also own a Sony Digital 8 camcorder and it functions perfectly in XP. The ZR camcorder is controllable in the capture mode... that is... it plays, stops, rewinds, etc. but refuses to capture through firewire. The ZR failure to capture not only occurs in Studio 7 but also in Windows MovieMaker. I reinstalled Windows XP, Studio 7, & MovieMaker to no avail. The ZR captured fine in another PC operating under Windows 98 so there was nothing wrong with the camcorder.
Upon the advice of Matrix tech support, I have resisted the upgrade of Service Pack 1 for Windows XP because they informed me repeatedly that SP1 caused more problems than it solved. Out of desperation, I finally installed SP1 and to my surprise the ZR camcorder started to capture through firewire in both the Studio 7 and MovieMaker programs.
I thought I would post this fix in case other camcorder users are confronted with this issue.

Welcome to Windrivers joerusso
Yes it's sad that people still perpetuate the myth that sp1 is bad. SP1 is essential for any usb/firewire problems.... as is loading the correct motherboard drivers.
