    monopoly on fonts?

A lady I know changed computers. Now one of her old publisher files pulls up saying that the old font (Abadi MT light condensed) is unavailable. I was going to try to find the font or something similar for her, but everywhere I search, I get redirected to fonts.com which wants to charge $22 bucks or more for any font I search for. Am I looking in the wrong places?

    Copyright: Monotype Corp
A TrueType version of this font is provided free with the Microsoft Office Value Pack (Macintosh).

So looks like its copyrighted, unless you can find a publishing suite that includes it your going to have to pay $22 to install it.

I am sure he thought of that. I was going to say the same thing too, but from the sounds of it the old PC is long gone... Can't hurt to say it though!

Actually, I pulled up the old box. Browsed the HD. couldnt find the font by name. Looked in all folders named *font* and couldnt find still. But when I pull up publisher there it is. Probably something simple I am missing.

Not a big deal, I know. The lady can use her old box to make the changes she needs. I was just curious as to why every font I happened to look for was $22. Even simple arial came up as pay to download.
