Digital Camcorder
How do?
Anybody have any recommendations on digital camcorders?
I've seen some that have the DVD burner right in the camera, and others that don't.
Any opinions out there?

Yep, get the mini dv tape version. I have always been highly suspicious of the dvd/cdr version...

Thanks Noo.
I'm assuming if I get that type, I'll be able to take the video off the tape, put it on my PC and burn it to DVD.
Or am I wrong?

Most dv cameras have firewire connections - sometimes called i-link. Grab yourself a fully ohci 1394 compliant firewire card and some capture software. Pinnacle do some nice stuff, others swear by ulead, XP has its own basic but functional capture software.

It all depends on what you want to spend. If money is no option I think the best mini-dv cam you can get right now is the canon XL1. A more entry level camera from canon is the GL1. Sony make a decent dv cam as well. And yes pinnacle software is probably the best bang for the buck. Easy to use and has some advanced features (like allowing you to mute audio on certain segments of the clips, etc).
