    FX-5200--spelling errors and strange symbols

Installed a new 128MB FX-5200. The monitor is showing spelling errors and strange symbols. Have been using a 64MB Geforce 3 Asus V8200 till now, which worked fine.

Put the old one back in and see if everything works alright, ok? Then you'll know if it's the new card. But geesh: a video card causing spelling errors? I don't think so....

On startup, even "American Megatrends" gets spelled wrong. Yes the old card works OK still. Could it be a driver problem?

No! It's the new card. Probably the ram on the new video card. Exchange it and everything should be alright.

I have seen this in other Nvid cards, corrupted display showing strange ascii characters in a 8x8 size block. If you manage to get to a windows desktop, openning and closing stuff causes random characters to be displayed on screen.

Most of these cards were extremely hot when pulled from the system.

Take it back and get it replaced.

Will Tigerdirect give a refund/exchange? Have heard nasty things about Tigerdirect.
