[RESOLVED] why does?

hi.
just a quick question for everyone. Sometimes when i open a program, after i am done i close it. But the little icon and name at the bottom of the window stay even after it is closed?
i mean down by the start menu where it shows what programs you have open, does anyone know why this is?

Some programs are designed to be closed through just the file, menu, exit or through
buttons in the open window. These programs normally open during startup ie. virus scanners, PWS. Others will react to the square with the x in the upper right corner which is actually a close window button and not a close program button just as the min and max buttons refer to the window.
