This is needed for a "special" network (PC <> Amiga)
So what i need to kill of win px?
explain exactly what your scenario is and what is needed to be accomplished, and I'm sure we'll have some ideas.

i have the cable and software for it. In win 98 it works perfect.
But that comp has given its life to its creator, and its left over its death
So now i am stuck whit win xp. And win xp close's the paralel port for dos
and my network prog is in dos. (its basic a sort small server)
And i am NOT going to do a reinstall, just to get Win 98 and xp on this comp
I'm not sure about this completely because I'm sure the software is propriatary, but on the XP machine check and make sure direct cable connection software is installed. run the network setup wizard . . . . I think there is an option to set up a direct cable connection via printer port. not sure since I can't run the network setup wizard on this computer (part of a domain.) when I get home for lunch I'll check it out and post back.

still, the prog does run, but hmmmmmm, it doens't say its have found dos 7.0 (or something like that)
And i already am part of a network
And the win xp network wizard does not have a paralel setting in it.
AND, its not a network from pc <> pc. But Amiga <> Pc
I can run this prog in plain dos (by useing a win 98 disk)
but er... i have a raid Hd. And that needs drivers. NO drivers? NO hd to find.

what would even be cooler and more elegant / less intrusive is to get virtual pc ($149 - I prefer VMWare, but it's cost prohibitive at around $400) and just run a virtual 98 or DOS machine inside your XP OS. No rebooting when you need to transfer files to the amiga, just boot up the virtual machine.
of course and even cheaper solution would be a $20-$40 2 port KVM switch and a piece of junk pentium machine under your desk (233mhz - heck even 133mhz would work) running DOS and your amiga server program. just change control of the keyboard mouse and display back and forth as needed.

create a one gig primary partition. Install dos. Reinstall xp to get the bootloader back.

First of all i am not going to spent cash in it.
Install Dos and then install Win xp again? Oh yeah thanks, i need to reinstall evry damm thing on my comp again .
And why Dos? Why not just Win 98 then?
There must be a other way around to dos (yeah load it up whit a win 98 startup disk)
But then i have no HD....as its raid
So is there a way to "rebuild" a win 98 startup disk, so it will load my raid drivers?

How many Megs of data to send to the Amiga? If the system has a CD burner, can you burn the data to CD then boot dos with CD-ROM support from the 98 disk, run the program & copy the data from the CD?

heck, you could always toss in an extra drive say 1gb. I don't know about you but I think most folks have stuff like this laying around. format it fat16 or fat32 and use a startup disk.
If you are in the states, and willing to pay $5-$8 for shipping, I'll send you a spare drive

Yep, got the picture. Kato's hard drive idea sounds good to me.
