Have you ever seen a problem with a DC device (iPAQ, laptop, phone, etc) that used a portable DC adapter like the one's from radio shack that plug into your car?
If so, how many?

Do you mean if the problem has been caused by being used on an adaptor, ie the adaptor has damaged them or won't run them properly?

No it seems to me that the batt in the device acts as a buffer so that the device doesn't get to much or to little voltage. I wouldn't worry.

Yep. I plugged my laptop into a radio shack adapter and now it won't switch to battery power. It runs off AC but won't switch to battery even though the battery is full.

If there's a switch in the external power socket that switches the battery from power mode to charge, it may not be switching back to let the battery power the laptop again.
Whether this was caused by anything associated with the RS adaptor, or it's just chosen now to do it by chance is hard to say.
