toshiba satellite 1115-s103 display problem
i think the display is done on my laptop (toshiba satellite 1115-s103), as it only displays a very white and slightly splotchy mess on the screen. the laptop works fine, i've run it w/ the svideo hooked up to my tv and can see everything as it should be, and i am still able to get files off it over my network. the display flashes during boot, from the white to black of off, like when windows is starting normally, so i'm guessing it's still getting signals from the computer. the only thing i can think of that might have done this is my leaving the svideo plugged into my tv for the night after watching a movie while using the laptop as a dvd player; which is the last time i saw anything on the display. if anyone can knows of an easy or mildly complicated or even very complicated fix for this, one that doesn't require buying a new display, i'd be really into it.
thanks

Welcome to Windrivers slincire
The display can be damaged by overheating, if you left it on over night and the lid was folded, you are in for a new display.
What happens if you try to boot to safe mode?
Can you see anything at all at boot up without tv out plugged in?

thanks NooNoo i haven't tried safemode yet, will do that later today, but i don't have much hope of it working. booting shows nothing, just a nice fade in to the white screen. i think i'll be getting a new display. anyone know a good resource for finding cheap displays and/or information on installing them yourself?
