DVD Decoder Driver for Win2K/XP for Solo 9100
[FONT=Arial][SIZE=7][COLOR=Black]
I have an ancient Gateway Solo 9100 (circa 1997) with the Trident Video and the DVD player. The DVD decoder is from C-Cube Microsystems (which was swallowed up by LSI Logic over 2 years ago). I have the Win98 drivers and they work....sometimes. However, for certain DVDs such as the new Star Wars Trilogy (or any Star Wars DVDs), they will not play, indicating they are not formatted for this region (it is a Region 1 DVD player, however). What I want to know is if anyone knows if there was a NT/Win2K or XP driver developed for this unit or if there is either a replacement DVD drive or add-on (via PCMCIA). I mostly work in XP and having to have my hard drive split for dual-boot to Win98 so I can play DVDs is really a pain. Any help out there people? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Windrivers NOJ
Have you tried a different dvd player? If it works in 98 but doesn't in xp then you have a compatibility problem. If LSI have not released an update there is little you can do.
this is a free player give it a try, it may just overcome the problem you have or define it better by producing an error message that makes sense.
this is more enlightening What no one there tried was installing the 98 driver in xp... sometimes it works.
Gateway would be your only point of support for this driver. See if they have a 2k driver or even an NT one?

Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
