Post renewing registry in windows 98

I had registry problems in win me once and ran scanreg/restore from me start up disc to replac registry with an uncorrupt version, however this does not work with a win 98 bootdisk.
How can I replace registry in windows 98

Soory your post is confusing me slightly, are you trying to repair/restore a corrupt registry on an installed win98 system?

If so you can start the PC up in DOS mode,F8 at boot up selecting "command prompt",and use the restore swiches as per your needs i.e.
scanreg /backup : backs up the registry
scanreg /restore : displays a list of backups
scanreg /fix : repairs damaged portions and optimises it

And within windows the command "scanregw" is used instead of scanreg.
As per MS Knowledge base Q184023.

If possible, boot to you're win98 cdrom, into DOS. Then enter c:\ and type scanreg /restore, and it should give you a list of available backups to restore from. If this is not happening, please describe what is happening. You say you are having trouble, but don't fully describe what the troubles are.
