    Welcome to the forums d239202r

IT seems that you have a Realtek AC97 onboard audio chip. When you say recovered your pc, what do you mean exactly? Did you do a system restore, or did they give you a Restore CD? Also what kind of driver disks do you have for the pc?

Errr Techz it says on the link you gave that he should have got a restore disk, so no driver disk or real windows disk, that, most likely, being the reason why he's stuck ? . Its probably not quite the right one by the sounds of it (there's also a 3119a).

This link is for buying replacement disks, but I reckon if you ring the number & explain they may well give you one free.

In the meantime try the drivers found here (you'll have to follow links yourself to get to the file, so audio driver & then 'sis 7012', then windows xp, to get the file I think you want)

When you look in device manager and it shows a yellow exclamation and says "multimedia audio controller", it means that windows has detected you have a sound card, but does not know what sound card it is because you do not have the driver for your sound card installed. So, this means that if it is showing "multimedia audio controller" then you could have any possible sound card that windows does not natively recognize.

In other words cizoman, you have to find out what sound card hardware you actually have, by either looking at the actual card, or checking if you have a cd with the driver on it somewhere. If the sound card is on the motherboard you need to find out which board it is, because without that info there is no way to know what software you need.

cizoman, the easiest way to find your proper sound driver is to download the following program and install it. Run it and it will give you your computer specifications including your multimedia device.

    Everest
    http://www.lavalys.com

best way to install the correct driver is by using your motherboard manufacturers site if your sound is onboard. find your model number of your board, also listed in the Everest program and download the relevant sound audio driver. If it is an add on card type the multimedia audio device listed in everest into google with the extra words 'driver download' and that will hopefully take you to the driver you need.

Download it, install it and if it has a run or exe file, then execute it and reboot. If it has no exe file, go to the control panel and update your multimedia card by browse and pointing it at the folder.
