Adding a scsi hdd to a win98 system with eide hdd
can anybody help me. I have a working windows 98 system with the OS on an eide fujitsu hdd. I also have an adaptec pci to scsi controller, for my cdrom. I have got a seagate scsi hdd which I have added, but it isnt supported within windows98, although within sytem-device manager, the scsi hdd is setup and working ok. How can I get windows to recognise this hdd?
thanks

Are you familiar with "fdisk.exe" used to create partitions on HDD's?? If so, more info to follow. If not I would recommend contacting someone you know who is, or a local PC shop in your area. I apologize for my less than informative replies but a slight "goof" with Fdisk could have very undesireable results for you IDE drive.

Run the EZ SCSI utility to make sure the adapter and all the peripherals are listed. Add the following line to the top of your config.sys from the sysedit command line in the run dialogue box. "LASTDRIVE=Z" (Without the quotes" This will allow you to continue to add and add drives. Check for proper termination on the internal scsi hardware. Running the EX SCSI utility will tell you which ID's are currently in use. If necessary, change the ID's as needed
