    Hp Pavillion2d 7000

I'm not sitting at this laptop and just asking for any suggestions for things I can look for. This laptop has a 12 cell lithium lon battery that is less then one year old. (they tell me) It has only once been used on battery power and it said it was low and has sense been solely used on ac with the battery in. She now wants to go on the road and use it but when she tries to power up on the battery it does nothing. I think the battery is just gone but is there anything else I can look for when I get there? I tried looking for test procedures on laptop batteries but couldn't find any.

Many notebooks have some sort of software to test the battery. You only gave the model of the battery rather than the notebook and the notebook os so here is the generic HP battery checklist

Do not skip the AC power test... often it is a fault in the ac power that causes the problem you describe.

Is it possible that your customer has a "ZD 7000" instead of the "2D 7000"?

    Check here:

Also, NooNoo gave you some good t/s info to get you started.

But it is my guess that the battery has in fact gone bad. If they run it on AC Power all of the time, then the battery is constantly charging and never gets a chance to do it's thing. Batteries need to be excercised. I know batteries aren't cheap but if you get a good model number, we/you might be able to find one locally at a fairly good price.

Another thing, if she wants to use it on the road, you might suggest a cheap DC to AC Power adapter that she can plug into her cigarette lighter. WalMart sells them for about $30 to $40. It will need to be able to handle the power requirements of the notebook charger, typically around 150 to 200 watts.

Just a suggestion...that's what I use anyway. Cheaper than buying another battery.
