Can't Change Home Page on IE explorer.

just recently my friend switched to SBC Yahoo DLS from Road Runner and now I can't switch the Home Page for him. I went to Internet Options>Home. Then Typed in a new URL and clicked Apply and did this like 3 or 4 times, I even cleaned out the cache, ect... restarted and tried to reset the home page, but it still didn't, I even turn off the computer unplugged the modem, router,ect... waited 3 minutes, plugged it back and turned the computer back and did the same process, but it's still not changing. I've scanned the computer for spyware, malware, viruses, ect... Could someone give me some advice on what I should do? Thank you.

Welcome to windrivers Jamie79, what is the home page now you are trying to change and what version IE do you have? This may help us determine what the problem is.

It's http://www.rr.com that was used when my friend was subscribed Road Runner's Broadband service, but now he has SBC Yahoo Dsl. He's using IE 6.0, the lastest version. I'm thinking I have to correct something in the registry by using regedit, but I'm not exactly sure what I should I do. Thanks for the Reply, it's much appreciated.

You can also try editing the group policy by hitting the "start" button, then choose "run", and then typing "gpedit.msc". Hit the plus sign beside the "User Configuration" icon, then choose the "Windows settings" and then the "Internet Explorer Maintenance tab. Click on the "Url's" and in the right box double click on the "Important Url's" icon. You will see your home page location there.

You might want to check your programs and see if there was a program installed by Road Runner Broadband causing IE to be reset on the Home Page. Thanks for the Comp on the quote.

Check to see if he has a third party utility like Spybot or Microsoft antispyware they have a setting that disables the home page change to stop browser hijackers from taking over the home page.

One other thing you could try as well, is to go to contol panel, Add Remove Programs, Add Remove Window Components, uncheck the box for Internet Explorer and remove it. Close the program folders, go to the folder Programs, delete the folder Internet Explorer and reboot. Go back to Control Panel, Add Remove Programs, Add Remove Window Components, check the box for Internet Explorer and reinstall it. Hopefully this will help you.
