Does any know about this?
First of all, i don´t knew where else to post this thread, so I simply chose a 9x forum.
I´m looking for the Win96 upgrade, or whatever it was, can anybody direct me to a link for it? Thanks!
I have heard ruomors abot a 97 update, but after what I know, was that, what Win98 is today, can any provide info about this? Thanks

Don't worry. You posted on the right forum.
First of all, there is no Win96 version. Probably you mean Win95 OSR2.
For anything related to Microsoft product updates go here and simply select the software you need to find updates for:

Nope, I mean Win96, I know it sounds weird, but it´s a Kernel32 update ( and a little more ), for Win95, it´s not very known, but try make a search for Win96 on altavista, or a similiar searchmachine, if you haven´t heaard about 96, will you probally be surprised to see the rumors about a 97 ( but that is, what we call 98 today )

There isn't any such thing as Windows 96! Maybe it's just some weird name that some moron christened one of the subsequent versions of Windows 95 (those being A, B, C) but I can assure you there is no such thing.

I heard rumors that there was some "hacked" windows version. I think it was 97. I'll ask the guy who told me and see if he remembers.

I have a copy of the "windows 96" upgrade on a cdrom - so therefore it does exist.
I cannot remember if it was a TRUE Microsoft version, but will dig it out and let you know.

Actually I have seen a few systems that boot up to the splash screen that says "windows 96" and "windows 97". It's pretty much just an update of windows 95 that is not even commercially released I believe, that changes your splash screen. But it's not an official release by Microsoft or anything. Hope this clears any kind of confusion.

I was unsure if they were from Micro, anyway!
However I would indeed like a person who have it to find it, and perhaps, IF possible, send it to me! I´ll prefer ICQ for it, if possible!
Anyway, 96 shouldn´t just insert a new screen, but also update the Kernel32.

I will go on record saying that I have heard of windows 96 and 97. Back in the day, on a BBS around here, I remember seeing windows 96 and 97 upgrades in the transfer section. I never did download them, figured it to be a waste of my time. They weren't that big either, only like 20MB if i remember it right.
Truth be told, I always accredited it to being windows 95 B and C upgrades. Oh well, probably a hong-kong hack

I'll go on record as saying that Microsoft has never heard of them before...
