I had this happen not long ago and found that the virus software was missing it. I used another virus program and it picked it up! Also had this happen and the virus scanner didn't get it no matter what I used. I ended up formatting that hard drive and starting from scratch.

Do you have a clean boot disk? If so you can rid a boot virus by using FDISK /MBR. This re-writes the master boot record.

DO NOT DO THIS IF YOUR DRIVE HAS MANY PARTITIONS OR IS USING THIRD-PARTY TRANSLATION SOFTWARE SUCH AS EZ DISK.

    Thumbs up

Thanks bdunn!! I've been sitting up talking to Microsoft for almost two weeks straight about different problems with my computer such as MS Dos Compatibility Mode, Master Boot Record Being Modified, Exclaimations for my IDE Controllers, tons of page fault errors, etc.... I ran across this site via search engine and it surely paid off. Your suggestion worked for me. I FDisked that baby and now I'm ready to rock and roll! I just hate I reformatted my computer and a whole lot of others things with you know before finding this site.

    Thanks Again

Pretty cool when a 2-year-old thread solves someone's problem....

Yeah, on a more cynical day I would say I'm shocked...
