External CD-RW/DVD-ROM WILL NOT BURN

I am using Windows XP and have installed a (#DBW1647-U2) external CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. I have not successfully burned anything. I installed nero6 the cd that came with drive and I now have updated to nero7 demo version.
When I try try to burn a audio cd it fails and in the error it says

Any attemp to burn an audio cd or dvd with operating system using windows media fails as well as attemps with other cd burning software.

I HOPE THAT I HAVE COMMUNICATED MY ISSUE TO U CLEARLY.IF U NEED THE ENTIRE ERROR LOG FROM NERO LET ME KNOW.

This is my second Thread Re:External CD-RW/DVD-ROM WILL NOT BURN.I got a reply that suggested i get updated firmware and that is what I did. Still no success with burning audio cd. have not tried dvd burn yet. However, the error log is no longer 'INVALID BLOCK ADDRESS' it says 'DEVICE NOT AVAILABLE' here is part of the log. HELP!

Does the cd rom show up in device manager?
How about in my computer?
Or Disk management?

A poster at CDFreaks ( http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=173608 ) had to update IDE drivers to get around a (KEY_NO_SENSE) series of errors.
