Unhappy Layne Staley AiC dead, April2002

Layne Staley, lead singer and guitarist for the Alice In Chains, was found dead in his Seattle apartment, he had apparently been dead for several days. It is believed a possible over-dose may may been responsible. It amazes me that such a talented, and tragedy haunted man could still die alone and unnoticed.

Layne, we, your fans of AiC thank you for all the years of wonderful music, the very sound of the grunge era. We'll miss you, your music were the song of your soul, tired and sick of the addiction that ate you away. I guess we all saw you out there waving, but you were actually drowning. I was fortunate enough to get to see AiC play a number of times and it the raw energy they brought to stage was amazing. I'm deeply saddened by the the fact, that, indeed, it is "Over Now". Sleep well Layne Staley, "..good-night."

The perfect epitaph was the last song you and the guys recorded
    "Died"
/I could climb until I reach where angels reside
/Ask around to find out where the junkies applied
/You just up and left me on this rock all alone
/It's my fault for knowing now what I should have known

    RIP Lain Staley
    born: August 22, 1967.
    died: April 2002

Sorry if I seem overly emotional folks, but AiC's music helped me through some rough and similar periods of my life. I know AIC hadn't done much of anything lately, but Layne's passing seems more like the death of an old friend than anything I've felt in a while.

I hear ya. I wasn't into AiC too much, but I did like some of the stuff and they were a big contributor to the whole grunge scene.

He's now up there jamming with Kurt Kobain, and maybe Jani9s Joplin, Jimi Hendriz, and John Bonham.

I just now read it on Yahoo. Sucks. I was never a huge fan, but AIC DO indeed rock. Sad, very sad. R.I.P. Layne Staley. You'll be missed by all your friends, family and fans.
