Compaq nc6230 boot problem
Hi all, it's been awhile
Anyway, I've got a laptop problem. I recently disassembled a Compaq nc6230 in order to install a mini pci wireless card. After replacing the keyboard and touchpad and screwing it all back together, it wouldn't boot. It would power on for a couple of seconds and shut off. If the ac adapter was plugged in it would just keep on cycling like that all by itself. If just on battery power it would turn on and shut off untill the power button was pushed again.
I'vetried the obvious things like removing the wireless card, re-seating the ram, unplugging the power/removing the battery/disconnecting the rtc battery/holding the power switch to drain everything, but it continues to do the same thing.
I'm at a loss. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Good... bad... I'm the guy with the gun!

Sounds almost like a stuck power button. If not that I'd re-evaluate what I had done on the laptop. I'd be wondering if a loose screw was shorting the system or depending on how far you went disassembling the machine consider that maybe it's not seated properly for the power, cpu, or even switches to be contacted properly.
