    Talking Borderlands!

Woo hoo! Played some Borderlands last night and what a great game it is! Post-apocalyptic style goodness, combining RPG with FPS gaming, solo and 4 player coop (like Left 4 Dead).

2K games has really hit it out of the park, so far, with this one. Has anyone else tried it yet?

Sometime later this coming winter, should things settle dowm, I will ask you if you are still playing and such stuff.

If so, I might like to get into the fray.

Right now I am extremely busy doing the boring stuff.

It's very addictive, like Fallout 3! So far the coop is fun, although it takes a little tweaking of the router (port forwarding) to be able to host an online game. Unlike Left 4 Dead where everyone logs in to a dedicated server, Borderlands uses the host PC as the server for the game.

Let me know when you is ready and we'll send you an invite!

So, Niclo, who did you start as?

I am more of a Mordecai, or Roland, type of player: stealth, sniping and pets, or gun turrets, assault rifles and shotguns... oh, my!

Lilith and Brick are good, but too melee dependant for me.

I went with Lilith and she can be melee dependant but if you build the class up ignoring the melee you can end up being a DOT (Damage Over Time) class. I went strong into SMGs, Pistols, and Sniper Rifles. I only use weapons that have a high chance of elemental effect and prefer high rates of fire unless it's the sniper then I just look for x3 or more elemental multipliers. Lilith is heavy on the fire elemental but never ignore the corrosive and definately never ignore the explosive elementals if they have a high multiplier, because they can be insane with damage if you are doing criticals (headshots). Lightning is total crap and I have yet to find an enemy with ungodly shields that even warrants using it.

I could have used points in the melee and gotten her to be a Rogue type with stealthing and hitting someone. I just didn't since it's not going to get a one hit kill or do massive damage with the 1 and only hit I can do melee while in stealth so it's not worth it because of the cool down time.

One Script to bring them all,
    and clean up after itself.

I love this game. Playing as Mordecai on the PS3. Up to level 18 now.

Definitely have to be careful with Elemental effects with Lilith and Brick. One of my sons, plays a Brick and I have watched his Elemental Beserk cause him more damage than the actual enemies. In tight quarters, it tends to cause the damn barrels, etc. blow up when his effect goes off. The munchkin shotgunners have some pretty good shields, as do some of the "Bosses", but by and large not too many awesome shielded bandits. Gotta love Acid effects for those Alpha Skags!

Mordecai is the King of the One-shot kill! Boo ya!

Roland is not too shabby, especially after you get an Elemental Artifact for his Gun Emplacement and you get to the end of the Soldier tech tree and get missiles! I frequently respec to favor the best weapon I have, which is currently an Assault Rifle. That and a good Class Artifact!

Most of my fellow players have already beaten it once and started going through the game for a second time, which adjusts to your higher level and really slams your butt from what I understand. I only have a 29 Mordecai and a 25 Roland.
I didn't surrender, but they took my horse and made him surrender. They have him pulling a wagon up in Kansas I bet.

I'm only 32 on Lilith but I've learned to ignore using the "Final" skill to each tree. My friends and I all feel it's a better use of points to spread them along the other skill trees to get more effect out of attacks and special abilities. It's a shame my friends and I didn't get it for the PC or we could join ya

Unfortunately, I have not had much time to indulge my Borderlands needs, as I am doing some consulting on the side and my personal life is getting crazier by the day.

I see your point about not dedicating too many points on a single tech tree, for a group endeavor. However, I have been soloing mostly, so I tend to specialize to maximize my damage. Being able to repsec at the New U stations and rearrange my points is very useful. I can switch between a group oriented design and a solo design, usually built around the best weapons I currently have. Sure it costs money, but what the heck, I just have to open more lockers!

Quite a few folks have gone the console route, but I already played Left 4 Dead with an online group via Steam. One of our guys has several servers available which he uses for his consulting efforts, so we have a dedicated hosting option at our disposal.

Has anyone figured out any method for increased chance of gathering an Eridian weapon? I found one at level 25 and haven't seen one since. Heck I've found more Legendary weapons than I have of the Eridians.

It seems like all the Eridani Energy weapons I have heard of have been tied to Boss fights. As you already know, it is rather important to search thoroughly, as stuff is hidden every where. Even the Claptraps will lead you to stuff, in addition to the backback SDU, after you "Rescue" them. Weapon levels seem rather important as well, but I just can't let go of a good X3 elemental effect weapon, or exceptional special effect/accuraccy/et cetera weapon, even if it many levels below me.

    Angry

The only thing that really gets to me about this game is not being able to exact horrible and painful retribution upon TJ' Baja's assailants. The end of that story arc left me aching to lay waste to all the bandit strongholds, to erradicate all beserkers, to wreak divine retribution upon anyone and anything that even knew about it.

Ha, I thought it was just me that got annoyed seeing TK like that.

B.T.W. have you gotten the Island of Dr. Ned expansion? I got it and it was a fun change of pace but can't figure out how to keep the Legacy Weapons vendor from turning off once I leave the zone.

No, I do not have the Dr Ned expansion. Is that a console specific item, or available for PC as well?

Two of the guys have gone through and beat it twice with the same character. The only thing they noticed is that all the enemies are level 50 and all drops are level 48 after that.

Oh, and all the NPC names change, again.
