I have been testing it on the wife's computer for a month and it seems great although she doesnt get any viruses to speak of. It seems to be out of sight and just working.

Seems to work, I'm using it on a few workstations untill we get a managed solution in. It's quiet, does it's job.

Security Essentials has done very well in testing by AV-Comparatives and others. On demand scan is slow, and it has a fairly large memory footprint compared to some other AVs like Avira and NOD32, but overall it's effective and unobtrusive. My only concern is whether MS will continue to make the investment to keep a piece of freeware up to date. Windows Defender has certainly become useless.
