    Printing to bitmap

I am in search of a *printer driver* that can output to a BMP or other lossless format.
Needs to work on Win7-64, have a resolution of at least 600dpi and be free.
I am currently using http://code-industry.net/imageprinterpro.php but it's nagging since it's not registered and it may not work past the 30 days... The free version doesn't work on Win7-64 (won't install).
No, printscreen is NOT an option, I need the exact resolution. PDF isn't lossless and produces shades of gray.

Is that a pro version of Win7-64? or Higher? Can you run in it in XP Mode if your hardware supports virtualization?

OK I tried to run the free version on my Win7-64 and it seems to stall on the command that it is adding the printer itself. The imageprinter.inf file is in C:\Program Files (x86)\ImagePrinter and maybe it can be added manually using that inf file? Just do not know what type of port it needs to use.

    Just a thought.

Tried but didn't work. I assume the driver must be compiled for x64 and it's not..
On a second thought I could try to hack something from the 2 apps... will have to see...

So you tried getting the driver manually from the inf file? I didn't think that would work because it is technically a driver and that needs to have 64bit support.

Do you have a computer capable of XP Mode or is your Windows 7 not pro or higher? I have used XP Mode for a couple older apps at work and it works great. I also did it at home for my old visioneer scanner that had no vista or higher drivers. Works seamless like it was actually installed under windows 7.

Well the app that will print works in Win7 very well so I have no reason to virtualize it. Don't know if a printer from the virtual xp can be seen from the host - I kinda doubt though. I'll stick to the nagging version for now, if it refuses to work past the trial period I will compile an example that extracts bitmaps from .xps files and use the xps printer from Win7.

You know I am not sure. I haven't had much time to play with XP Mode as much as I like too. It works wonders for my old scanner which is about all I use it for but I do have to launch the VM to scan but the application I use is installed natively on Windows 7 so I would have to say it is somehow communicating between the host OS and the VM. Of course that is using a USB port and the hardware virtualization is taking care of that.
