Can't see winxp computer from win7

Hi all,

Just installed a lenovo G550 that comes with win7 Home premium OS.
Tried to connect it via a Siemens ADSL router to an existing xp workgroup, But for some reason I couldn't see the shared computer.
Changed workgroup to same name and changed exncyption settings from 128 to 40/56 and it didn't helped.
Disabled firewall on xp machine that didn't helped too.
Managed to ping the Xp machine.
Managed to install an TCP/IP printer on the same network.

Still can't connect to the xp machine....

Not too sure what these encryption settings are but

Hello Hip! Ferrit is right; Win7's network settings are very restrictive by default, so you do have to be sure that you have selected private network settings (Home or Work network) for the Win7 machine. Even then you may want to tweak the default settings in Network and Sharing Center.

Thanks for the tips. Right now connecting the network printer was sufficient. I will keep this note to future systems needed to connect Win7 computers to Winxp networks.
