Outlook 2000 woes
OK, this seems kind of silly. In fact, it has not bothered me to the point that I had to do anything about it, but now it's just plain annoying.
When I click on a "mailto:" link in a web page, Outlook 2000 returns the following error:
Outlook can't create the item.
I'm using Outlook 2000, on an unpatched Office 2000. This did work at one time, I know, because I was experimenting with different parameters for the mailto: URL. Any ideas?

I would think that there must be some kind of set up option that has been changed do to some new configuration changes, if it is possible to run outlook express back over itself and set it up again ... seems there is a conflict with something you are using and it has grabbed or confuses producing the send messages dialog..jd

sorry not much help right what kind of browser are you using and is it set as the default browser there should be an annoying popup that asks 'would you like to make this your default browser I always type no and move on'...on mine..when it doesn't work I open another browser and go back on it and it asks again and i keep it that way ...unless you maintain it this way you may have a conflict with your browser if it has a mail button or not etc ..also your isp or icq opening a browser may causing an access violation unless you are very sure about your settings these access violations occur on a regular basis and eventually may be picked up and cause a kernel or various other crashes...this may also be a good response to the current hot topic regarding iexplorer crashes feel free to quote me on that topic...anyway hope this may give you some ideas (anyway I found this out because I run all windows minimized and sized, when I am running say 15 windows and many have decided to open themselves full screen or against my settings or choose another browser it takes time for the system to adjust and may require extra resources sometimes this adds up to something slowing up till there is a consideration made by the system whether it can be fixed or if it needs to pop up or simply should be doing something)...symentics I think they call it haha right.....excuse my spelling and use of a new word or something ..jd
I think what I am calling an access violation is also stretching the words a little; but if it gets by with it and doesn't tell me, then that is what I consider has happened. I quess I figure I should be in control and not at the mercy of someone else's code..getting by my settings...Maybe just run an update on your browser seems that is where this has gone and sounds like it may be a way to "develop" your way out of it. The more and more I think of it seems like I have tried that ..but can't be sure it will hold.
