Hey gang, heres one for ya. I have a customer with a Gateway Essential computer with an IBM 10.2gig 7200rpm ATA\IDE drive. The machine starts to boot fine, then an error message saying that sectors are bad pops up. Hit enter and scandisk runs but finds no problems. Norton Disk Dr finds el-zippo too!! If you continue on thru and attempt to load the operating system, it generates the good old " Can't write to drive C" error. I hate that one.

I went to IBM's site and downloaded their diagnostic software. Its called IBM Test Drive. When I run a test it gets about half way thru and generates an error saying that the internal drive temp limit has been exceeded.

Its obvious to me that this drive is toast. I just wondered if anyone else has ever seen this error.

Thanks
