In wake of the current power crunch in California, I've begun thinking about getting a UPS so nothing catastrophic happens during a "rolling blackout".

The one they installed on my workstation at work is an APC 1400, but I understand it's pretty pricey. I'm just looking for something for home use, that would give me enough time to shut down during a blackout without losing any data.

Any suggestions?
