I am having trouble trying to get the CDrom to play audio cds, even though the drive is present and all other features seem to work.

I have removed it and allowed windows to find new hardware and deleted and reinstalled multimedia options using windows add new programs but all to no avail.

When an audio cd is installed the audio cd icon appears under My computer and the cdplayer program starts, but it displays "no disc or data disc" in the title box.

Double clicking on the audio cd icon does not display the contents.

As far as I can tell data disks are working fine.

It is a BTC 20x cdrom with a cyrix/IBM 6x86 P200 processor and Award bios 4.51

Any clues as to what to try next.

I did try another cdrom but that did not work either.
