getting an error message of "error while loading protocol number 1 :error 59

i have reinstalled my nic (3com 3c905-tx) 3 times. also removed all registry entries dealing with the network. i have ran win98se setup no help. updated the nic drivers today. also after i hit the ok button i login as normal and the network runs fine including accessing the internet using a router no problem. I just don't know the meaning of the message.

any help would be appricated.
