2 drives as 1?
Hey y'all. I know I haven't been around in a while, but I still troll here every once in a while and in my latest case (being in Packard Hell with someone's 100MHz Pentium) my trolling paid off once again. System was getting a configuration error in Setup but there was a CMOS password and I couldn't find which unlabeled jumper would fix (NEC/PB site only lists back to 1997, and their support still sucks anyways). Thanx to a link I found in a search through these boards (posted by "format c:"), I found the mobo layout on Ray's Packard Bell Site.
Now to get back on topic of the post, I also noticed that this system has 2 drives in it and I thought that was what the configuration error was regarding. Upon further examination, the 2 drives are Conner models CFS850A and CFS1275A (850MB and 1275MB respectively, configured as Master and Slave) but the system is recognizing them as a single 2GB drive. Both drives also have stickers on them saying that they are only to be used in pairs and POST identifies them as a CFS2113A. Also, as everything else in Setup seems fine, I think this is what's causing the configuration error, but I really don't feel like messing with changing it since the drive(s) is reading fine as a 2GB. I'm guessing there's some sort of overlay being used as the system came with W95(original). I noticed on another search, the following:

and people were saying that it can't be done. Just thought that I'd pass on that, aparently it can, although I would never do it myself =P

P.S.-Haven't been around cause spending 5+ hours a day here got to be as bad a habit as my smoking, which I'm also trying to quit. But I still love yas.
These boards still rule!
