My test machine just went down(IDE controller) thanks to a faulty customers hard drive(Seagate, China). Now I have to find another old working Mobo. I might have to give up on data recovery for that drive.

Do you think it's possible Chinese made stuff sold overseas has an activation code so they can fry lots of computers if they get pissed off!
