Excel not responding on all machines
Hi,
I received this email from someone in a three person office. They run
Office 97 sr2; 2 ME machines and 1 Win 95.
Here is the email:
"About 50% of the time when I open an older excel file or one generated
outside our office, my computer locks up. Everyone else in the office has
the same problem."
->By knowing this person I will say when he refers to "Lock Up" he is
referring to pulling up task manager and see that Excel is "Not Responding". When referring to Old Excel Files I am pretty sure he doesn't mean Older version but rather an Excel 97 Spreadsheet made last year.
This problem really does not make sense to me. Maybe you can get something
more out of this but it appears that it could not be a corrupt file since it
happens to half. I personally do not think Excel really cares if it was
emailed or not. I also don't think it cares about the date a spreadsheet was created either. It could be the Temps need to be cleared but on all
machines at once the problem creeps up?
Any ideas on where to go from here, possible solutions or additional
information needed to troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Dani
