Ok, here is the breakdown..

My parents recently moved their PC from one end of the room to the other, doing so they removed all the cables from the back of the computer. Well, they had a printer plugged into one of the 2 USB on-board ports. When they removed it, they broke off part of the inside of the port, I had to use an awl to remove the piece of broken plastic from the USB cable end. Anywho...they ultimately destroyed the port connection to the board. I plugged the printer into the other available USB port to test, no go. I also plugged in a USB mouse, no go. So I bought a Belkin PCI USB adaptor card. I installed the card tonite, restarted the PC, booted up, windows recognized and installed the drivers, then continued to the desktop, but froze before all the icons and taskbar could load. I booted into safe mode, removed all USB components, and restarted, same deal, freezing when the desktop appears. This happened 7+ times. Any clues to help???

Compaq Presario 7594

Belkin USB 1.1 PCI Adaptor card 2 Port (Attempting to install)

TIA for any help!!!
