Hi folks,
I'm hoping for some help here. I'm trying to determine whether or not my mothers computer has a cmos virus and if so how can I get rid of it. For starters the machine will boot but will only get to a certain point in windows and stop (safe mode also). It will not boot to a floppy and in the bios it will not let me autodetect or manually configure a hard drive. The board is an FIC 503+ running a 550mhz K6-2. I've tried several drives with the same result. In the Standard Bios screen it will let me change from User to Auto and will detect any hard drive I install but none of them will boot and they all have known good operating systems on them. In the Hard drive auto-detect screen it just shows a blank and freezes up. I've tried clearing the bios, flashing the bios with the latest version, pulling the battery, using the bios default settings and hitting it with a stick but no joy.
Virus??? If so how do I shake it? Or should i just toss it and give my mom the upgrade she deserves. As I've never seen anything quite like this before I'd really like to figure it out.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!!
