Don't take it so hard; he was actually trying to help. He made many of the same misassumptions I made, that was why I didn't post because I too can't understand the reason why the 2k install hosed sound in 98, if you installed the way you said. It doesn't make sense, and when troubleshooting in the dark like we sometimes do on the forums, you get hung up on the wrong issue...

Let it go man, Confus-ed mentality is sometimes hard to swallow, but take it with a grain of salt, you might find some wisdom in his words...
