I know this subject has been done many times before, but just had to vent. Had a guy that called me the other day. He claimed that his power supply, that he had bought from us about 6 months ago, was under volting on the +5 rail. He asked if he could exchange it. I asked him if he had the receipt for the original purchase, and he said that he did, so I said sure. An hour or two later, this guy shows up with the power supply in it’s original box and receipt in hand. I open the box to inspect whether or not it is our power supply (Tag on product). At the same time I notice our tag, I also notice that the P4 4 wire +12V power plug is clipped off. I tell the customer that I cannot take this back for exchange because the product is damaged. Then this A hole starts ranting that it is not performing how it should be, and that he is still in his warranty period. So I gave him the scenario of, “So what your saying is that you can buy a car, rip out the dash to modify it how you like it, then return the car 6 months later demanding a refund because it does not have that new car smell.” (At this point, my boss had already been in close proximity for the most of this conversation.) So they guy asked to speak to the manager, and my boss who was there most of the time pipes in and says, “No, but you can speak to the owner.” Then they went at it, and after a few minutes, the guy had his tail between his legs while buying a new power supply from us. (Incase your wondering, he cut the P4 plug off to splice in his case fans.)
