Is that just a question of disconnecting the power supply and plugging it in again, or do I have to use the 'emergency button' which consists of inserting a paper clip through the opening of the door housing.
Which is better? Or something else...

Is there a CDR in the drive?
I just got a call from a church where I do their networking.
"If you recall I told you this before", says she.
Says me: "No, if you recall I told you how to do this already: My Computer/right click CDRW dirve and choose 'eject'"
Her: "Oh yeah....but why does it do that?"
Me: "I will come in next week and reteach you how to record".
