Toshiba SD-5112 - Can no longer burn DVD
In January, I bought a new computer and installed a Toshiba SD-5112 CD/DVD-R/RW drive. My operating system is Windows XP Professional. I use NERO as well as CloneDVD for burning both data, music and video CDs and DVDs.
So fare, it has been working fine. Now, I can no longer burn data or video DVDs. As well, I cannot read data DVD's. The drive still allows for playback of both original and 'burned' movie DVD's using, for instance, Windows Media Player 9.
After having inserted a blank DVD-R in the drive, when attempting to create a data DVD using NERO, I am asked to insert a recordable DVD in the drive. Same same message appears in Clone DVD. When inserting a data DVD in the drive and attempting to explore the disc using Windows Explorer, Explorer does not view the contents of the disc ("Drive Empty"). Same situation but with a movie DVD, burned or original, Windows Explorer allows me to explore the contents.
The CD-R/RW functionality of the drive still works just fine. Can still read as well as record data and music CD.
I'd be very appreciative if anyone could provide me with a bit of help. Have no idea what happened.
In advance, thanks.
