Unable to Write to Disk in Drive 'C' Error
Hi Gang,
I’m downloading a demo of a game on the Internet. When I do I get a blue-screen error saying “Unable to Write to Disk in Drive C” When I press ESC it goes away and comes back after a few seconds.
JitBob suggested I turn off Norton AV. I did so and continued to get the same error. Then I removed it from my desktop (Win98SE) and still got the error message. Then I uninstalled NAV 2002 entirely and was able to download my file successfully.
Then I tried for another file from the same website and the same error message appeared. Note NAV 2002 was still uninstalled.
I tried an online scan with RAV AV and I still got the same error msg after a few minutes. So I have been unable to complete a thorough online virus scan.
I have scandisk-ed and corrected the errors when they found them, both in safe mode and in Dos . I also did a complete thorough scandisk two days ago.
Every time I go on the internet I seem to get this error after a few minutes. I am using a broadband connection.
BTW, I was unable to unpack the game I downloaded. I got the error message and it froze up.
What’s going on and how can I correct it?
PS> I have a 20G Seagate HD (72rpm) and a 40gb WD Hardrive (4800rpm)
Thanks,
Orangeman
