Transferring XP to another computer
I presently have my retail upgrade copy of XP Home running on my husband's computer as a demo upgrade to ME using the 30 days before activation but my husband likes it(of course )and I want to take it off my spare machine and put it on my husband's machine legally as buying a new upgrade is not an option because XP is now shipping with SP2 and I do not want my husband to have SP2 yet and getting stressed or running to me for help every time he uses the machine. He is very ill and does not take things in very easily so learning XP is enough for now and of course I have used classic taskbar settings and kept his desktop and apps exactly as they were.
So what do I need to do to legally activate my copy of XP on my husband's computer? Do I phone MS or is it done online? Of course I will delete it from my computer first and once I have sorted out the legal stuff I will format my husband's hard drive to get rid of ME forever and do a clean full instal of XP for him.
I will still have this computer running XP Home and my new one will have XP Pro.
